Fathering: The Key To Making America Great Again

Psalm 78.5-7 records, He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which He commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds but would keep His commands.

America’s crisis is a crisis of obedience to God, the direct result of the poverty of our parenting over these past 70 years. The parenting crisis is a fathering crisis, men have not led their families in the ways of God as they have been commanded in the Word of God. Teaching, leading and modeling obedience to God has not been the post WW II priorities of the American father.

Instead he has pursued wealth, pleasure and position, leaving the raising of his children to the school, the church and the playground. The result is generation after generation, increasingly further removed from the ways of God, living lives of pleasure, ignorant of the One True God or His story of how He has worked among men from the beginning and what He requires of men for today. These young people rioting in our streets and disrespecting all authority are the fruit of parenting without discipline and raising children to be self-centered rather than God and others centered.

The healthiest families, regardless of color, are those with two parents in the home fully committed to one another and to the training of children to be good citizens. The best citizens are those who love their neighbor as themselves, doing to others what they would have done to them. These are the essential commands of God in Jesus Whose greatest command begins with loving God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength.

This teaching, leading and modeling is what fathers must begin to embrace across the fruited plain regardless of skin pigment if we are ever to see a healthy, peaceful America again.

Very true. I’ve said many times that real social change must originate with families (bottom up) being properly led by the Lord. Popular culture insists that the government (top down) is responsible for the social change we need. Top down “leadership” for social issues has yet to work. The people have forgotten God.
