2 Chronicles 29:11–12 (NIV) My sons, do not be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand before him and serve him, to minister before him and to burn incense.”
Then these Levites set to work: from the Kohathites, Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah; from the Merarites, Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel; from the Gershonites, Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah;
King Hezekiah’s charge to the Levites still echoes to us today: “Do not be negligent now.” God’s men were chosen to stand before Him, serve Him, and minister to Him—and so are we.
This call wasn’t just for ancient priests in the temple; it’s for every believer in Christ. Scripture says we are now a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9), chosen to represent God to the world and bring the world to God through the gospel. The Lord has chosen us to stand, not sit. To serve, not spectate. To minister, not drift.
The chronicler recorded the names of those Levites who set to work—men who obeyed, acted, and took their calling seriously. They didn’t procrastinate or make excuses. They got up and got busy doing what God asked.
Like them, I want my name recorded among those who stood before the Lord and served Him faithfully. I want to be counted among the men who gave their lives for the building of God’s kingdom—men who sacrificed comfort to serve Christ, who led their homes with conviction, and who proclaimed Jesus without compromise.
Every Christian man has one mission: the Great Commission.
To go into all the world and make disciples, beginning with our families, then our communities, and reaching even to the ends of the earth (Matthew 28:18–20).
This is God’s will for His people—that every tribe and nation will be represented in heaven.
Our lives are not about building our own kingdoms, but about expanding His.
When we’re negligent in our calling, we lose more than time—we lose impact, reward, and the eternal joy of hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
No purpose is greater. No work will be more honored than winning people to Jesus and helping believers walk in obedience to Him.
God is keeping a record—not of our comfort or careers—but of our faithfulness and fruitfulness.
I want to be on that list. Don’t you?
Men, don’t be negligent now.
Stand before God with courage.
Serve Him with passion.
Minister to Him with your obedience, your work, and your witness.
Run today’s play by taking up your priestly calling—lead your home, love your people, share your faith, and serve your King.
Live so that when you meet Him face to face, He looks you in the eye and says,
“Well done, My good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master.”
