God Invites Us To Be Close to Him

“‘As for you, go near and hear all that Yahweh our God says; then speak to us all that Yahweh our God speaks to you, and we will hear and do it.’” (Deuteronomy 5:27 LSB) https://accordance.bible/link/read/LSB#Deut._5:27

Israel had the unprecedented opportunity to hear and see the only God speak to them by His own voice. Having experienced this once they were terrified and instead told Moses to be the mediator between the people and God. The result? Moses heard God daily, knew God intimately, and so loved God deeply. The people were always grumbling, always questioning, and always rebelling against God and His word spoken by Moses. God came again in Jesus, but He too was rejected. Today God offers and provides His Holy Spirit to all of His children who will seek Him in order to love Him by obeying His commands. The Holy Spirit is known by the Word of God which sanctifies us by the power of the Holy Spirit within us yet many do not spend time in God’s word preferring to hear from God through another person like a pastor. This person is spiritually weak, constantly questioning God’s Word and often disobedient in accomplishing the work of God. Certainly, the Church is given to the Christian for helping them do God’s work, but the Father calls each of us His children and desires for each of us to know Him and to love Him. The Holy Spirit is God Himself in each of His children for leading them closer to Him and empowering them to reveal more of Him to the world. We are not to look for any mediator between ourselves and God other than the Lord Jesus Christ Who intercedes for us daily and daily provides everything we need for knowing Him and doing His will if we will seek Him with all of our heart. Our God is personal and wants a deep and intimate personal relationship with us, do we want one with Him? It is possible through Jesus the Savior.
