God’s Word And Not Man’s Experience Details How We Get To Heaven

“But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.‘” Luke 16:30-31 LSB https://bible.com/bible/3345/luk.16.31.LSB

Yesterday I spoke with a man who wanted to read some books about people who died and experienced the bright light or God to know what that is like. I told him he would do better to read God’s book to understand what He requires for living with Him for all eternity because the experience of men is irrelevant to God’s judgment. This passage makes that same point. We constantly look for signs of God’s reality, but when we are offered some, we refuse to follow Him. God has given us His word for knowing Him and what He requires of us. Simple, objective, straightforward information that by His Spirit within us leads to our transformation if we humble ourselves, seek God through the Scriptures, and obey everything we understand Him to command. God has given us minds to understand Him and His word to learn of Him. We use this methodology for every other learning skill. Read, consider, and apply the means for becoming the person we are studying to be. So it is with God we must be in His word, consider His ways, and obey His commands. All of this is empowered by His Spirit and enhanced by His church when we pursue these things in spirit and in truth.
