Laziness Is Killing Manhood

“We have a great deal to say about this, and it is difficult to explain, since you have become too lazy to understand.” Hebrews 5:11 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/heb.5.11.CSB

A woman’s ministry that is quite popular is called every woman a theologian. Every man should be a theologian, but few attempt this endeavor. Every man is required to be the spiritual leader of their home, but many quite readily abdicate this responsibility to their wives. What is the root cause of this poverty of effort toward spiritual growth and leadership? Laziness, says the writer of Hebrews. Men make excuses, but the root is laziness. Knowing God well to serve God well is not the priority for most men. Fortunately, Jesus had other priorities, so he obeyed perfectly so that He could become the Savior of all those but only those who love Him and obey His commands, demonstrated not by laziness but by strenuous effort to know Him and to make Him known. Laziness keeps us fat, denies us promotion, causes us to miss significant opportunities with friends and family, and may keep us from heaven. No man should be lazy. It is the opposite of how man was created, a steward to rule the world for the glory of God. If any man would begin to show himself a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed when he meets His maker for reward and judgment, then let him grab hold of God’s word and diligently study it to teach it at home at minimum but expanding to his friends and family at church and beyond, showing himself a man of God who serves his Master well.
