Isaiah 22:23-25 NIV “I will drive him like a peg into a firm place; he will become a seat of honor for the house of his father. All the glory of his family will hang on him: its offspring and offshoots—all its lesser vessels, from the bowls to all the jars. “In that day,” declares the Lord Almighty, “the peg driven into the firm place will give way; it will be sheared off and will fall, and the load hanging on it will be cut down.” The Lord has spoken.” https://bible.com/bible/111/isa.22.25.NIV
Before God, everyone must stand. No one will be exempt from the Judgment to come, nor will anyone be grouped with others for judgment; each person will stand on their own before God. The role of the Christian father is to stand faithful to God and to help his children do likewise. Individually, as fathers, we need God to ‘drive’ us into holiness, righteousness, and faithfulness to Him and His work of making disciples beginning in our own homes. This must occur if our children hope to have any legacy of knowing God and what He requires of us, for aligning themselves to His ways so that they, too, can experience eternal life with Christ. Failure to model, to teach, and to insist upon God’s ways in our homes results in our children being sheared off from God’s ways, leaving them with no foundation for their knowledge of God. Instead, they are left to learn for themselves Who God is and what He requires so that they might be saved. So many families today have no godly peg firmly implanted in their households. Fathers are not leading as commanded by God. Children are not following the Lord or obeying their parents, demonstrating their training for eventually obeying everything Jesus commands. All fathers, to some degree, naturally lead their children because they tend to follow their example. The passive man in the ways of God, the disinterested man in the ways of God, the unfaithful man to the ways of God, leads children away from God and will himself be sheared off from the family of God. God rewards the faithful. Jesus strengthens the man who remains steadfast and loyal to His commands, giving him the hope and promise of eternal life, even to the next generation of those whom he loves and leads toward Jesus and His eternal kingdom.
