Being Christian Means Being A Soldier

“For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit  — which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:13-18 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/eph.6.13-18.CSB

Having become Christians, we have joined a war, for we have sided with God and His revelation of Himself in Jesus the Savior. The enemy of God who uses all manner of men to harass, malign, and even kill God’s people immediately becomes our adversary, for he seeks to kill and destroy the people of God for he hates the ways of God and the knowledge of the word of God in the world. Are we prepared for war? First, do we believe this to be true? Do we understand every idea, every religion, every academic argument against the truth of God’s word and His appearance in Jesus is satan’s means for keeping people ignorant of the truth and the way to reconciliation with God? Are we continuing to grow in our understanding of the truth of God’s word and His message from Genesis to Revelation so that we can speak it and refute those ideas that argue against God’s truth? Are we constantly listening and looking for people with whom God is working to share the gospel with them? Its message is the power of salvation for everyone who believes. Are we praying always for people to come to know Jesus as Savior and for people to stay faithful to Jesus as Savior? We are engaged in the battle for eternity when we grow in our knowledge of God and share it with others so they can be encouraged and reconciled to Jesus. We strengthen our hearts and minds with God’s word and then battle ideas and beliefs taught against God’s word. This is the war God has saved us for until His kingdom is fully established on earth as it is in heaven.
