Christians Shouldn’t Boast Like Mere Men

“This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/jer.9.23-24.NIV

We are so quick to boast of our success, whether in sports, business, investments, or whatever, except our success at being restored to God through Jesus the Savior. It is this one act, this most important of all decisions, to choose Jesus as Savior, that we should boast, for it alone is the one decision that changes all of our eternity from hell to heaven. Our fear of men makes us talk like men by boasting to men of our success. Instead, the Christian man should boast of his admission of guilt and sin before a truly good God Who has demonstrated His kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth by coming to us as one of us in Jesus the Savior. God so loved the world He came to the world and suffered for the sins of the whole world when He took all sin upon Himself at the cross, satisfying His just requirement that all creation obey Him perfectly forever or suffer judgment in torment forever for failure. God has been so good to us to open our eyes and hearts to Him. Truly, His kindness was not of our own doing. Neither His coming to earth nor His revelation of His work for us upon this earth were initiated by us but were the work of God because of the great love of God for us. Therefore, we have nothing to boast about except what God has done for us. But let us boast of this work of God rather than the work of men that lasts for only a short time and has no bearing on our eternal destiny except to keep us on the road to hell unless we repent and follow Jesus.
