(Jhn) 16:32-33 CJB “But a time is coming — indeed it has come already — when you will be scattered, each one looking out for himself; and you will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone; because the Father is with me. “I have said these things to you so that, united with me, you may have shalom. In the world, you have tsuris. But be brave! I have conquered the world!”
Many men profess faith in Jesus, yet struggle to live it publicly. This is why courage for Christian men is one of the greatest needs of our time.
Jesus warned His disciples that pressure would come—and when it did, they would scatter. Fear would cause them to think first of themselves rather than stand with Him.
That same battle remains today.
Why Courage for Christian Men Is Lacking
The primary reason our world does not reflect stronger Christian influence is not a lack of believers—it is a lack of boldness.
Too often, men:
- Fear the opinion of others
- Avoid identifying with Jesus publicly
- Choose comfort over conviction
In doing so, they repeat what the disciples did:
They leave Jesus alone.
Not by abandoning Him in word—but by failing to stand with Him in life.
The Root Issue: Fear of Man Over Fear of God
Jesus said the disciples would be “scattered, each one looking out for himself.”
That is the essence of fear.
- Self-preservation over obedience
- Acceptance over truth
- Silence over witness
Courage for Christian men begins when the fear of God outweighs the fear of man.
The Foundation of Courage: Christ Has Already Won
Jesus does not call men to courage without reason.
“Be brave! I have conquered the world!”
He conquered:
- Sin through His death
- Death through His resurrection
- The world through His victory
This means:
We are not fighting for victory—we are living from it.
Courage for Christian men is rooted in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
How We Conquer the World
Jesus conquered through surrender.
We follow Him the same way.
We conquer the world when we die to ourselves and identify with Jesus before others.
This means:
- Speaking truth when it costs us
- Standing firm when it isolates us
- Loving others even when rejected
The call is not safety—it is faithfulness.
What Is at Stake
This is not theoretical.
Apart from Jesus Christ:
- People remain separated from God
- Eternal judgment is real
- The need for salvation is urgent
And through Jesus:
- Life is restored
- Peace is secured
- Eternal joy is guaranteed
Courage for Christian men is not just about personal boldness—it is about the eternal destiny of others.
The Call to Identify with Jesus
Men must decide:
Will I stand with Jesus—or shrink back from Him?
Jesus was not ashamed to be identified with us.
We must not be ashamed to be identified with Him.
This means:
- Living openly as His follower
- Speaking His truth clearly
- Representing Him faithfully
Run Today’s Play:
Ask yourself:
Where am I shrinking back from identifying with Jesus?
Then act:
- Identify one place you’ve been silent
- Speak truth with humility and courage
- Pray for boldness before stepping into your day
- Trust Christ with the outcome
Don’t wait for comfort.
Choose courage today.
