Do You REALLY Believe These Are The End Times?

Romans 13.11-14 warns, make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work He began when we first believed. We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about! MSG

So many Christians believe these are the last days, that we are in the end times. So what are they doing? Waiting for Jesus to burst through the skies and end all the misery and suffering in the world? What should they be doing? Paul says here, God says in His word, we should be working not watching. We should be laboring not waiting.

Are these truly the last days? Then evangelism and discipleship, sharing Jesus with others and calling all men into obedience to all of His commands, should be the paramount objective of all Christians. Is this the passion you see in God’s people? In yourself?

We are still buying boats and vacation properties. We are still playing and planning trips. These are not sinful just not essential, and if the last days are upon us shouldn’t we be working diligently to win everyone we know to Christ? If the King is coming soon do we not realize that all who have not yet recognized Jesus as Lord will be cast off to hell for all eternity?

How many friends and family members do we know who are not walking with Jesus? What is our concern for them? How are we manifesting this concern for them? If we are indeed in the last days then we should be running the course of our faith like the final runner in the relay race who’s in second place; running with all of our might to win so that God is glorified and men are saved.
