God worked and He has left His church to work too

“Jesus *said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work. 35 “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. 36 “Even now he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 “For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ 38 “I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.”” (John 4:34-38 LSB) https://accordance.bible/link/read/LSB#John_4:fruit

O Lord, let my food be to do Your will and to finish Your work. Jesus finished the work of God by making a way for men to be reconciled to God. No other sacrifices for the sins of men should ever, can ever, be offered to God and be accepted by Him. Jesus is the final offering, because He is the only perfect sacrifice, for the sins of men. The perfect man gave His life for imperfect men so that imperfect men could live forever with a perfect God. The means of reconciliation between man and God is finished. The work of reconciling all men to God continues having been given by God to the church to finish. This is the work all christians are assigned to do through the Great Commission if they will but open their eyes to see the fields ripe for harvest. God has entrusted to us the ministry of reconciliation, He is making His appeal to people through His people for reconciliation to Himself in Jesus the Savior of the world. The world needs reconciliation to God, this is increasingly obvious to the christian who loves God and knows His word. The means of reconciling the world to God is the sharing of the gospel by the people of God to those who don’t yet love God. This work must become our food, our driving will, our daily necessity for spiritual survival, both ours and the people not yet reconciled to God.
