Matthew 22:2–3, 5–7, 14 NIV “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come… But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business… The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city… For many are invited, but few are chosen.”
The Hard Truth Most Men Ignore
Men today are busy—running businesses, building homes, and hustling to provide. But in the pursuit of provision, many are rejecting the very purpose they were created for.
Jesus tells a story about a king who throws a wedding feast for his son—symbolizing the joy, celebration, and life found in the Kingdom of God. But when the invitations are sent, men respond with indifference: “one went to his field, another to his business.”
These weren’t bad men—they were distracted men. They let productivity outrun purpose.
The Greatest Mistake: Prioritizing Earth Over Eternity
These men chose business over the banquet. Fieldwork over the Father’s call. Temporal hustle over eternal hope.
And the result? “The king was enraged.” This isn’t just a parable about disobedience. It’s a prophetic warning: Ignoring the call of Christ is a fatal mistake.
Men were made for more than building empires—they were made to know the King.
God’s Love is Wide—but the Door is Narrow
The invitation goes to all, but not all will enter. “Many are invited, but few are chosen.” Why? Not because God doesn’t love everyone—He does. He proved it by sending Jesus to die for us.
The problem is that most men don’t love God back.
They ignore His Son, reject His servants, and live as if eternity isn’t real. But every man will live forever—either in the joy of the King’s presence or the judgment of His absence.
Your Move: From Excuse to Obedience
Jesus’ parable ends with a haunting reality: some are too busy to be saved.
God’s love demands a response:
- Admit your sin.
- Accept Jesus’ pardon.
- Abandon your self-made path.
- Align with His commands.
That’s not religion. That’s loyalty. That’s repentance. That’s surrender.
Application: Trade the Temporary for the Eternal
Men, it’s time to stop excusing and start obeying.
- Don’t let your business keep you from God’s banquet.
- Don’t let your pride blind you to your need.
- Don’t let your comfort cost you the kingdom.
Respond to the King. Bow before His Son. Enter the feast.
The world needs men who won’t just provide for their families—but will lead them into the Kingdom. Will you be among the few who are chosen?
