“Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. “This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. and you are testifying as well, because you have been with Me from the beginning.” John 15:2, 4, 7, 10, 12, 16, 27 NASB2020 https://bible.com/bible/2692/jhn.15.2-27.NASB2020
The work of God is accomplished by the children of God made possible by the Son of God. Jesus, God the Son, established the work for the children of God, which is the reconciliation of the world to God through the Son. The children of God who do not participate in this work, who bear no fruit, are cut-off from the family of God! The will of God is for the children of God to bear much fruit, to have great success at this work, even as the Son has had great success over the centuries through the faithful children of God preceding us. Our means of success is to know and grow in God’s word, obey what it says, love the church that then works together to make God known. We are to first spend time with Jesus in the Scriptures so that we can accurately share those scriptures helping men know them so they too can obey them. We obey these same Scriptures because our obedience reveals the character and wisdom of God Who made us a certain way to live a certain way, that way being revealed clearly and meticulously in the Scripture. Obedience shows God and the world that we love God first and most and keeps us close to Him for sharing our prayers that He then responds to so that we can bear even more fruit. Working together as the church is God’s means for accomplishing God’s work. All of us are part of His body to be joined together in faith, working together in love, looking forward together in hope, to that day He rewards all of us for our partnership in accomplishing the establishment of His kingdom upon earth as it is in heaven. When we see the world and its brokenness the response of the children of God must be to grab their brother and work harder at sharing the gospel and helping men obey Jesus so that we all live together in unity, love and peace until our God and Savior returns to take us to our new home.
