Psalm 43.4 observes God Who gives me ecstatic joy.
The psalmist found in God his greatest joy. How many people can say that today?
Joy in God is a uniquely Christian attribute for the man-made gods of all the other religions is too aloof, austere and fickle to be close enough to in order to bring great personal pleasure to the soul.
But the Christian God is love, we call Him Father, and so we draw near to Him and He to us and as we enter into a personal relationship with Him we find great joy and deep satisfaction within our souls.
The key to finding joy in God, our greatest joy, is to spend time with Him.
The imagery we should have is like that of our lover, particularly in the earliest days when being with them caused our hearts to overflow with joy. During these days we though little of anyone else and we worked our schedules in order to spend the maximum amount of time with our lover.
So must be our attitude and actions if God is to become our heart’s first love and greatest joy.
Without time with God we cannot know Him and if we don’t know Him well we will love Him little and find Him uninteresting as a whole.
But how does a man spend time with Him Who is greater than the galaxies?
He Who is larger than the universe fit well into the hearts of those who love Him.
The Holy Spirit of God seeks out those searching for Him and He moves quickly to enter their lives.
We seek God as we cry-out to Him for His presence, humble ourselves before His authority and study Him diligently through the pages of the living Scriptures.
