Live Ready for Forever: Building God’s Kingdom in a World Counting Down

Luke 17:20–21, 24, 33, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed… because the kingdom of God is in your midst…For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning… Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it.”

Jesus says the kingdom isn’t waiting for a blood moon, a political event, or a headline—it’s already here, already advancing, already present wherever His people live under His rule and obey His ways.

The end will come suddenly—lightning across the sky—leaving no time to prepare, hide, negotiate, or change course. Men who cling to this life will lose everything; men who surrender their lives to Christ will gain everything.

The real question isn’t when will the end come?
The question is: Are we living like men who belong to the kingdom now?

Jesus’ men build what He will one day finish. They create pockets of heaven—right now—through:

  • Self-denial over self-protection

  • Purpose over comfort

  • Obedience over opinion

  • Witness over silence

  • Sacrifice for the salvation of others

This is how the world sees the kingdom today: through men who live like Jesus lived, love like Jesus loved, and serve like Jesus served.

We are shaping in the present what we will experience forever. We bring the kingdom in part now until Christ brings it in full later.

One day evil will be removed forever. Our bodies—still carrying the remnants of sin—will be replaced by ones completely free from it. When Jesus returns, the transition from mortal to immortal will happen “in the twinkling of an eye.” No second chances. No delays. No do-overs.

The men who will live forever are the men who live for Jesus now.

Men who have died to their own agendas.
Men who stop trying to save their lives and instead give them away for the salvation of others.
Men who daily surrender their priorities to God’s priorities.
Men who seek and save the lost because the King Himself did the same.

The kingdom of God isn’t just a future hope—it’s a present calling. And God is looking for men ready to build today what they will inherit forever.

RUN TODAY’S PLAY: Lay down your life so others can find theirs in Christ.

Identify one person in your world who is far from God.
Pray for him by name.
Reach out.
Invite him to coffee, lunch, or your next men’s gathering.
Live like a kingdom man on mission—because the kingdom is already here, and the King is coming quickly.

Live ready… live surrendered… live building the only kingdom that lasts forever.
