Loving Like God Loves Us

“And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.” (2Th. 3:5 LSB) https://accordance.bible/link/read/LSB#2Th._3:5

O how great is our need for love. The kind of love that gives of ourselves generously, sacrificially, and unconditionally independent of the words and actions of others.  This is how God loves us. Men curse God daily.  Men ignore God daily. Men disobey God daily. Yet He never pours out His wrath upon us but waits patiently for us to repent and love Him with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. One day He will hold all men accountable for their adherence to His commands recorded in His word but today we are free to love or hate without apparent consequence except for that consequence which occurs between us. O how severe those consequences can be! From divorce to war from not speaking to one another to murdering one another, the evil is great among us when the love is absent from among us. God in Jesus experienced man’s evil yet loved anyway. Jesus faithfully loved to the point of death, death on a cross. We must seek the presence of God through the Spirit of God so that we can love like God did in Jesus. God’s love is manifest best when His people love like Him by the power of His Spirit in them. The world longs for the love of God to be seen and felt.  It was seen best at the cross, it continues to be seen when the people of God love like God; unconditionally, sacrificially, and continuously.
