Acts 2.23 describes God following His prearranged plan.
From before the creation of the heavens and the earth and all they contain, God had a plan. God worked from a plan, a plan to create, restore and dwell forever with beings made in His own image.
Having a plan for our future reflects our likeness to God.
While His plan was and is perfect and must supersede all other plans our plans are good when they incorporate the will and work of God within them.God’s plan was and is for the created to live eternally with the Creator.
Like God’s plan, our plans should have a long-term view in mind when we put them together.
God’s plan has been revealed incrementally first with creation, then Israel, then the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, then with the formation of the Church. God’s plan will be further revealed when Jesus returns to establish His eternal dwelling on the new earth with all those from all time who have loved Him and obeyed His commands.
Our plans should also include short-term objectives – specific goals for being accomplished this year, this month and even this day. These short-term objectives are part of the larger plan to be accomplished over many years.
Since our plans should incorporate God’s plan we should include not only personal spiritual development but also expansion of the Church in the world.
Our plans are good and acceptable to God when they include the will and work of God within them thus demonstrating to ourselves, others and God that He is Sovereign and Lord over all.
