Hosea 6:1–3 (NIV) “Come, let us return to the Lord.
He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us;
he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.
After two days he will revive us;
on the third day he will restore us,
that we may live in his presence.
Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises, he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”
Every Christian man knows what it feels like to drift—spiritually, morally, or emotionally. We chase provision, we grind for success, we juggle pressures, and suddenly the fire we once had for God cools. Hosea 6 is God’s call to every man who knows he needs to get back to Him.
Israel was disciplined because they abandoned God, but the same God who “tore” also promised to heal. The God who “injured” also promised to bind up their wounds. This is the gospel storyline running through the entire Bible:
-
God disciplines us to awaken us.
-
God restores us when we return.
-
God revives us so we can live in His presence.
And then comes the ultimate fulfillment—Jesus Christ.
He was crucified for our sins, buried, and raised on the third day, the very picture Hosea paints. His resurrection is proof that God revives, restores, and brings life out of what we’ve broken.
And Jesus is coming again—to renew all things, to reign forever, and to bring His men into a world where righteousness, peace, joy, and abundance never end.
God has told us what He has done.
He has told us what He will do.
Now He calls us to respond.
Three Decisions Every Christian Man Must Make
1. Return wholeheartedly.
Don’t be like ancient Israel—men who claimed God with their mouths but chased idols with their lives. Modern idols are no less dangerous: comfort, success, lust, entertainment, reputation, money.
Whatever steals obedience becomes your god. Return.
2. Believe what God has already done in Christ.
Don’t be like those who doubt the cross, deny the resurrection, or live as if eternity isn’t real. Jesus died for sin once for all. He rose to make forgiveness final. He reigns now and He is returning soon.
3. Pursue obedience as your daily mission.
Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength by living for His will—not your comfort. Let your obedience increase God’s influence in your home, your work, your relationships, and your world.
Real men don’t settle for a life of temporary pleasures.
Real men live for eternal rewards.
Return to the Lord—today. Turn off what distracts.
Repent of what is weakening you.
Call on Jesus to revive you.
Open His Word and obey what you already know.
Don’t wait for tomorrow. Don’t wait for someday. Don’t wait for when life “slows down.”
If a man will return, God will restore.
If a man will press on, God will appear.
If a man will obey, God will strengthen.
As surely as the sun rises—He will.
Run the play. Return. Rise. And walk in the strength only God gives.
