1 Corinthians 1:19, 21, 28–31 NIV“ For it is written: ‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.’ … For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know Him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. … God chose the lowly things of this world … so that no one may boast before Him. It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.”
Men, at some point every one of us has to decide: What’s going to shape my convictions—God’s Word or the world’s wisdom?
The culture around us is loud, confident, and persuasive. Professors, politicians, influencers, and even religious voices claim to have “the truth.” But according to Scripture, their intelligence is frustrated and their wisdom destroyed.
The world rejects God, so its narrative will always oppose Him. That means what we hear about identity, success, manhood, and purpose from secular voices is poisoned by deception. There are no moral absolutes in the world’s system; lying is its native tongue, just like the devil who inspires it.
Now, that doesn’t mean we stop learning how to do good work—becoming doctors, mechanics, or builders. Those practical disciplines are rooted in God’s fixed laws that make life possible. But when it comes to who we are, why we’re here, and where we’re going, there’s only one trustworthy source: the Word of God.
History, psychology, sociology, and science all have value—but without God’s revelation, they become corrupted by human pride. Only Scripture reveals truth that never changes. Only Scripture tells us who we are and what we’re for.
When God’s Word and the world’s wisdom collide, choose God’s Word every time.
The world will call you a fool for believing Jesus is Creator, Savior, and King—but God calls that wisdom. The so-called foolishness of faith in Christ is what saves us, defines us, and redeems us.

- Open your Bible before you open your phone.
- Pray for discernment before you form opinions.
- Reject every “truth” that contradicts Scripture—no matter who says it or how persuasive they sound.
Men, our confidence isn’t in human reasoning but in divine revelation. The world’s wisdom fades. God’s truth stands forever.
Let’s be the kind of men who stop boasting in ourselves and start boasting in Christ—our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.
