The Man Of God Contends Earnestly For The Faith

Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you exhorting that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.” Jude 1:3 LSB https://bible.com/bible/3345/jud.1.3.LSB

The man of God, the need in the church, is like God, a warrior who battles for truth and righteousness. This battle occurs not against a man like a wrestler but against principalities and powers in high places that deceive men from knowing Jesus as Savior and obeying His commands. This war takes place in prayer, and it takes place in earnest debate with people concerning truth and righteousness. It is because men no longer contend earnestly for the faith that our culture, our children, are so confused about truth and righteousness. All people, but especially all men in the church, should be contenders for the faith, workmen who show themselves approved unto God for their diligent effort at correctly learning and teaching the word of God to the people in their lives. The man of God studies God’s word, beginning with daily reading the Scriptures. The man of God sharpens his understanding, application, and teaching of this word by meeting with other men eager to do the same. This is what is lacking so much in our churches. Few men earnestly pursue God with other men who also earnestly pursue God so that together and alone, they contend passionately, wisely, and consistently for the faith until all men know Christ and live like Christ, especially within our own homes.
