The Time For Living Unrestrained Lives Is Over

1 Peter 4.3 observes, there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry.

Oh how true these words, written nearly two thousand years ago, are today: enough time has been spent carrying on in unrestrained behavior. The ‘final’ fruit of the Spirit is self-control. (more…)

We Must Work At Our Faith, Not Neglect It

Hebrews 2.3 asks, how will we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? This salvation had its beginning when it was spoken of by the Lord, and it was confirmed to us by those who heard Him.

How Hard Are You Working Your Way to Heaven?

Philippians 3.10-14 records, my goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead. Not that I have already reached the goal or am already perfect, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.

In this passage, the Apostle who teaches us that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone, reminds us of the effort we too must make in working out our salvation. (more…)
