Christians Rightly Worship God On Sunday

“Then he told them, “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. So then, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”” Mark 2:27-28 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/mrk.2.28.CSB

There is a growing movement among some Christians to worship on Saturday as the Jews worship God and in commemoration of the Sabbath commands made by God in the Old Testament. I find this blasphemous of Jesus. Jesus came to fulfill the Old Covenant and to inaugurate the New Covenant through His blood. This New Covenant created a series of changes in our relationship with God, particularly in the realm of worship of which Sabbath conduct would be part. Jesus communicates man was not made for the Sabbath. It was God’s creation for our provision for us to rest as He rested from His work. Jesus is Lord over Sabbath as He is everything else. This Jesus, the Lord, Messiah, and fulfillment of the Old Covenant, is rejected by those who are still Jewish and not Christian. Jews do not worship the One True God rightly because they reject the Messiah. Christians should not follow this rejection of Jesus by worshipping Him on Saturday. From the beginning, the Church worshipped Jesus, the Messiah, the One True God, on the first day of the week, Sunday, in commemoration of His resurrection, which is the proof of His fulfillment of the Old Covenant and the establishment of the New Covenant. The first Christians were almost exclusively converted Jews including all of the church leaders, the Apostles. Worshipping Jesus like the Jews under the law is to deny Jesus, Who fulfilled the law and established a new way to relate to Him in peace through His blood, remembered by all of His people throughout the world on the first day of the week, Sunday.
