God Defines His and Our Identity

But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, because He knew all people, and because He did not need anyone to testify about mankind, for He Himself knew what was in mankind.”  John 2:24-25 NASB2020https://bible.com/bible/2692/jhn.2.25.NASB2020

Jesus did not receive His identity from the opinion of people and the words of people did not sway his opinion of them. Jesus was not looking for men to acknowledge Who He was so that He could be Who He was. Jesus came to the world as God to save the world as it’s Savior. That is Who He is and Who He was and He knew that men would reject Him as Savior and as God, that was already written about Him in the Scriptures. Likewise, those who wanted to befriend Him, who spoke well of Him and to Him, who followed Him in loving adoration, were still sinners in need of Him as Savior. These all would deny Him and flee from Him when He hung upon the cross as the sacrificial payment for their sin. The fickle words and deeds of men would not change the fact that all men are born sinful, created in the image of God so capable of good too, but in desperate need of Him as Savior. God’s Name continues to be both maligned and praised by all people whether followers or haters, but God’s identity remains. God is love, God is judge, God is the Almighty, full of grace and mercy, humble and gentle among us, yet ruler over all. God has come to us in Jesus the Savior because all of us need reconciliation with God and none of us are capable of making that happen on our own. God made men, God knows men, God loves men and God will judge all men according to His word because He is God and He knows unequivocally who every man really is.
