Jeremiah 20.8,11 describes, whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction. So the word of the Lord has brought me insult and reproach all day long…….But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonor will never be forgotten.
The Word of the Lord is an insult to men for it opposes our pride and demands we humble ourselves before the One True God in order to obey His commands. It is the fool who says there is no God, and it is the foolish who act as though that God has no expectations of us.
The One True God is not Santa Claus who warns about his naughty list but in the end always gives gifts on Christmas Day. No, each man will be weighed and measured, their works judged by the Word of God. Those who have obeyed Him, doing what He said, who repented of their self-centered living and believed that God has come to earth to pay for their sins and to pardon their disobedience, proved by living as Jesus did, will be welcomed into God’s eternal kingdom.
But those who refuse to obey God’s Word, who won’t repent from their self directed lives, who don’t follow Jesus and obey His commands, will be condemned forever in the suffering place called hell. This warning, this opportunity to be pardoned by God for all of our disobedience, is to be shared with all people everywhere so everyone in all places at all times can live with God forever. Yet sharing this message will cause those who disbelieve to turn against the Christian, to despise the Christian, to malign the Christian and to bring ill will to the Christian.
The Christian must decide, whom shall he please, the Lord God Almighty Who is His judge and Lord, or men who are here today and gone tomorrow? The world’s chaos is a result of Christian men failing to do their job. If we would have a better world we must call men to better living which is the life God prescribes in Scripture.
We must repent from our apathy and laziness at doing the work of God which is spreading the word of God while living according to the will of God, lest we too miss the kingdom of God because of our disobedience.
