Heaven’s Brotherhood: Living as Sons of the Resurrection

Luke 20:34–36 NIV Jesus replied, ‘The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection.’”

When Jesus spoke about the resurrection, He flipped every human expectation upside down. Life in eternity will not look like life here. Marriage, family, and even death itself will be gone. Instead, men and women will live as equals before God, united not by contracts or bloodlines but by the eternal bond of being sons and daughters of the resurrection.

This is radically different from the false promises of man-made religions. Systems like Islam and Mormonism reduce women to objects of fertility and perpetuate male-centered fantasies about eternal pleasure. But Jesus reveals something greater, something holy: in heaven, there is no hierarchy, no exploitation, no lust. Only God’s children—men and women together—sharing equal value, equal purpose, and eternal joy in the presence of their Father.

That means the measure of manhood isn’t how many wives you have, how much wealth you accumulate, or how much power you wield. The true measure is whether you are considered worthy of the age to come—whether your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life.

And here’s the urgency: once God closes history with a new heaven and a new earth, the door is shut. No more time. No more chances. That’s why Scripture tells us God is patient now, giving every man and woman the chance to repent and turn to Christ.

So what’s our assignment? As men, our calling is twofold:

  1. Build families that point to eternity. Raise children who know Jesus, who live as sons and daughters of the resurrection.

  2. Win souls for Christ. Fill heaven with spiritual sons and daughters who will one day stand beside us in glory.

Brothers, your purpose is bigger than your paycheck. Your provision is more than food on the table—it’s eternal life through Jesus. And your priority must be to live, love, and lead in such a way that heaven will be crowded because of your faithfulness.

The resurrection isn’t just a doctrine for tomorrow—it’s the call to live with courage and urgency today. So ask yourself: Are you preparing your life, your family, and your legacy for the age to come?
