Jesus Is God’s Only Means For Peace With God

“And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins. Because of our God’s merciful compassion, the dawn from on high will visit us to shine on those who live in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

When God came to live among us as one of us to offer Himself a human sacrifice for us, He did so in fulfillment of His promise recorded under the Old Covenant to save His people from their sins (Jeremiah 31.34). The salvation the religious leaders were looking for was not from sin but from captivity and control by foreign powers over the people of God in the Promised Land of God. To this day, the Jews refuse to recognize their Savior as promised in their Scriptures. God has moved on from His Old Covenant requirements and promises, completing everything He planned under that agreement with Jesus. Every promise is yes and amen, finished and complete, in Jesus, God as man (2 Cor. 1.20). God has initiated a New Covenant, new requirements, and new promises that include all people everywhere. Every knee must bow, and every tongue must confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Every person who acknowledges Jesus as Savior from every tribe and tongue will live forever in the kingdom of God under the Lordship of Jesus when He remakes the heavens and the earth to live among His people forever. This is why God came to earth, to save sinners, among whom we all belong, for all have rebelled against God and fallen short of His perfect requirements. We need to be saved, forgiven, and pardoned by God to become acceptable to God. This is His offering, available because of His ultimate and final sacrifice in Jesus on the cross, so that no other name or means is acceptable or offered to humanity other than Jesus to be reconciled to God.
