We just finished celebrating the 4th of July, the birth of America, the greatest nation on the earth. Great because it allows its people the greatest freedom to be who God made them to be and to exercise the gifts and talents that God gave them. It is the greatest nation because it is the most free nation for worshiping the One True God, without constraint or control by the government – or at least it used to be.
America has largely forgotten its history of God’s providence in its formation. It no longer teaches in its public schools how its settlers came to worship God freely from nations that didn’t allow such freedom. It fails to teach its children how God performed miracles in and through the founding fathers so that we were able to overcome the world’s strongest military of the day in order to become the home of the free.
We no longer remember the moral fabric sown deeply into our beginnings so that we could become the greatest economic, social and political nation the world’s ever experienced. We don’t tell people of the great works this nation still does in the world helping the poor and broken with generosity unknown in world history.
No, America hasn’t always been perfect, neither has she always been godly, but she has always allowed the Church to speak, to remind, to rebuke and to teach God’s ways in order to keep her on a course of true north. The current media and its affiliates in public education do all they can to stifle the voice of Truth.
The people of God, the Church must decide if they will return to their first love and His good ways or remain silent and self-seeking and watch this nation further implode.
