Losing Our History is Costing Us Our Nation

Jeremiah 6.16 records, this is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.

The fool destroys his history and scorns his past for it is these that teaches him the wisdom for knowing what to do in the future. Those who are on a rampage now are destroying the remnants of our past. Fools, they know not what they do, destroying even the statue of former slave, abolitionist and Vice Presidential candidate Frederick Douglas. Douglas represents all that the destroyers claim to want and proclaim isn’t happening or possible.

Our public education system, from elementary through graduate school, has sought to dismantle the ancient ways beginning with God, Who Himself formed the world and everything in it by the word of His command. Their success has resulted in our current chaos and ignorance of all that great men and women have done in the past to promote truth and justice. It is God Who demanded justice first and has the power to hold each person to accountability for being just and indeed He will.

It is God Who demonstrated the severity of justice when He had crucified His own Son for the sins of the world on the cross. This history, this justice, has been ignored, maligned and impugned by those in our educational system so that everyone now does what is right in their own eyes, and if we no longer agree, we take revenge. We are not a better society than we were before we removed God from our schools and worked so hard to prove His irrelevance. Instead we are a more hopeless, angry, unjust, unforgiving and unloving society – perhaps the most we have ever been as a nation.

The solution is to return to God for direction Who has given us His Word in the Scriptures so that we can know unequivocally how we are to live. Then we should relearn our history of those great men and women who executed the will of God as found in the Word of God in such a way that changed the world for the glory of God.

Then we must work for the removal of the injustice to unborn children who are murdered each day in the thousands.
