New Government Same Need

“So now, you kings, do what is wise; you rulers of the earth, submit to correction! Serve the Lord in fear! Repent in terror! Give sincere homage! Otherwise he will be angry, and you will die because of your behavior, when his anger quickly ignites. How blessed are all who take shelter in him!” Psalms 2:10-12 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/psa.2.10-12.NET

A new year means new governmental leaders in Michigan and the United States Congress. What does this mean for the people who live in these places? Depending upon these same laws, men will interpret what is right. Laws reflect morals, and morals reflect what men genuinely believe. Those who believe in God will remember the ways of God in the laws they require men to follow. Those who ignore God will reflect their disdain for God in the laws they require men to follow. These new leaders are no different than the old leaders in that all leaders must submit to God. All leaders, all people, must serve the Lord in fear of Him Who judges all based on our words and deeds. The recent rulers have made laws that ignore God’s word. The people in Michigan have voted into our constitution the death and disfigurement of children who are unwanted or confused through abortion or sexual identity surgery. The people of God have the same responsibility toward these new leaders as we had with the previous leaders on whom we exerted too little influence. The church must proclaim the gospel calling everyone everywhere to repent of their evil deeds, believe in Jesus the Savior, and obey everything He commands. We, the people of God, are responsible for our proclamation of the gospel, our vote in our elections, and our daily efforts to bring about the kingdom of God upon the earth as it is in heaven. In the end, it is not our leaders but our churches, the people of God,  that are responsible for the moral condition of our state and nation.
