Peace or dread, depends on your proximity to God.

“When you lie down, you will not be in dread;  You will lie down, and your sleep will be pleasant. 25 Do not be afraid of sudden dread Nor of the storm of the wicked when it comes; 26 For Yahweh will be 1your confidence And will keep your foot from being caught.” (Prov. 3:24 LSB)https://accordance.bible/link/read/LSB#Prov._3:24

I have been starting to feel the dread of economic and political woe. The world is on fire. While I do my best to stay away from most of the news, I still read some things to stay aware of what is going on in the world, and it’s not good. I feel dread when I keep my head down rather than keeping my head up. God reminds me through His word, this is the beauty of daily sitting with Him, He knows my thoughts and concerns and comforts me even when I am foolish. God reminds me that He is in control, that the world is His footstool, that He has overcome the world and that He has promised to remain with me in the world even amidst its troubles. Him with me is a result of me with Him. He is with me because I follow Him. The dread is avoided as I stay true to Him and His ways, not letting Him get far from me as He does His work in the world. Rather I stay with Him, seeking to work alongside Him, for He has commanded I follow Him and join Him in His work in the fields that are ripe for harvest. Indeed, the world on fire is a world in dire need of fireman and paramedics of which those in Christ are bringing living water and life everlasting to the weary and dying souls of men. God is with us as we remain with Him, doing His will, seeking His face. He is not with those doing their own thing, seeking their own way for God is working in His world to redeem His world and He is making His appeal through His people who have joined Him in this work. Dread is the result of stopping from work and looking around at the chaos, peace comes from working with God and seeing His mighty hand prevail amid the chaos.
