Christianity Is Missional

“By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain….Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.” 1 Corinthians 15:2, 33-34 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/1co.15.2-34.NIV

The Great Commission is the mission of every Christian. This needs to be the mantra of the Christian so that his life practice is obedience to everything Jesus commands, as it fits the true disciple of Jesus. The culmination of discipleship and the work of the Holy Spirit of God in the life of the Christian is conformity to the image of Jesus, Who obeyed every word that proceeded from the mouth of His Father. Biblical ignorance and then disobedience to the will of God as recorded in the word of God is antithetical to the Christian. If this is not our understanding of what we signed up for when we embraced the cross, denied ourselves, and began to follow Jesus, then we misunderstood what God requires of us, and we are failing to live the Christian life. Most practically, this discipleship is manifested in holy living and making more disciples by proclaiming Christ as Savior and helping others grow in obedience to Christ even as we do. Too much self-centered and self-absorbed living resides in the Christian camp, explaining the poverty of our obedience and the near fruitlessness of our work at winning others to Jesus as additional disciples. Are we truly Christian? If we are, we will walk as Jesus did, who made the word of God His food and the work of God His mission.
