2 Corinthians 7:1 (NIV) “Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”
When a man surrenders his life to Jesus Christ, something supernatural happens—God Himself moves in. The Holy Spirit takes up residence within us, not just as a comforting presence, but as a guarantee of God’s promises: forgiveness from sin, freedom from condemnation, and the assurance of eternal life with Him through Jesus.
This is no small thing. The God who created heaven and earth has chosen to dwell in you—to comfort you, empower you, and transform you into the likeness of His Son. Every day, He is shaping your character, purifying your heart, and preparing you for the day when faith becomes sight and you stand face to face with Jesus.
But until that day, you and I are called to work with God—to cooperate with His Spirit by obeying His Word. This means actively purifying ourselves from anything that pollutes our body or spirit. We don’t drift into holiness by accident; we pursue it out of reverence for God.
The world around us is relentless in its contamination campaign. It promises satisfaction through power, pleasure, and possessions—but all of it poisons the soul. Instead of loving God through obedience and loving others through sacrifice, service, and sharing the gospel, the world tempts us to live for self-glory, self-gratification, and selfish ambition.
So the call of Christ to every man is clear: die to self. Take up your cross. Deny the fleshly desires that compete with obedience to God. Live as a man marked by the Spirit—not by the standards of the world.
Being a child of God means being different. It means living in contrast to those who reject the truth of Jesus—whether they label themselves atheist, moralist, or part of any belief system that denies Christ as the one true God, Savior, and Lord over all.
Holiness isn’t optional—it’s the evidence that you belong to Him.
Inspect your life for anything contaminating your body or spirit.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what needs to be purified—habits, attitudes, or influences that pull you away from God. Then take action. Replace compromise with conviction. Replace indulgence with obedience.
