Reward Is Earned On Earth And Distributed In Heaven

Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/gal.6.9.CSB

I fear too many have given up on doing good. Not the kind of good like helping hold a door for another person, but the type of good that leads to eternal life for those who don’t know Christ. So often, God encourages us to pursue His reward for a life well lived. This passage promises we will reap if we don’t give up. What will we reap? His reward. God will eternally bless those who worked for His kingdom to come upon this temporary earth as it is in heaven. Those who embrace His work assignment to make disciples, teaching everyone to obey everything Jesus commanded, will be forever rewarded in heaven and upon the new earth. What will this reward look like? A bigger house and nicer cars? I doubt it, but it may mean closer access to Jesus and more responsibility to help the King manage the new earth when all those who have ever loved Him live forever upon it. There will be some hierarchy in God’s kingdom. Don’t we want to be as close to the top as possible? If not, why not? We seem to like that on earth. There will be no poverty in the new world, but eternity is a long time for living on the treasure we stored up during this short time. It would seem most prudent to store up as much treasure as possible in heaven to live as well as possible forever. I fear we are too consumed by this world and think too little of the world to come. The greatest work we can do is lead people to Jesus and help His church become more obedient to His word. Let us not grow weary in doing good but keep our hands to the plow without looking back as long as our Lord gives us the breadth to do so.
