Acts 2:36–40 (NIV) “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
Step One: Acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior
Most men today live as if they are their own god—making choices based on what seems right in their own eyes, chasing success, money, or pleasure, and justifying themselves before others. But Peter makes it clear: God has made Jesus both Lord and Messiah.
Every man must answer Jesus’ question: “Who do you say I am?” Call Him a teacher or prophet, and you remain condemned. Confess Him as God, Savior, and Lord, and you take the first step toward salvation.
Step Two: Repentance That Redefines Priorities
Acknowledging Jesus as Lord demands repentance. That means turning away from self-centered living and rejecting the sin He died to forgive.
Repentance isn’t just regret. It’s a surrender of control. It’s realigning your priorities—no longer serving money, comfort, or pride, but living to obey Christ. Men who truly repent will begin replacing selfish pursuits with obedience to His commands.
Step Three: Baptism and Bold Identification
Repentance leads to action. Baptism is the public declaration that we belong to Jesus, no matter the cost. It’s not a private decision but a bold identification with Christ and His Church.
Through baptism we join the community of disciples committed to making Jesus known across the world. It’s the outward sign that our allegiance has shifted—we no longer live for ourselves but for Him who is our Savior and Lord.
A Call to Men Today
Peter’s warning still rings out: “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
Brothers, the world will offer you wealth, applause, and temporary pleasures. But salvation is found only in Jesus Christ. Acknowledge Him. Repent of self-rule. Be baptized into His name. And live with purpose—not for money, not for status, but for the eternal kingdom of God.
