Scripture Is Our Means For Knowing God

Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, “You are speaking a lie! Yahweh our God has not sent you to say, ‘You are not to enter Egypt to sojourn there;” Jeremiah 43:2 LSB https://bible.com/bible/3345/jer.43.2.LSB

The Word of God, the Scriptures, has been given to us by God so that we no longer have to depend on a man of God for knowing the will of God. This is a tremendous blessing to us if we believe that God wants us to know Him because He loves us and plans to hold us accountable to His will. God loves us and wants us to know Him so that we can love Him too therefore He has revealed Himself to us through the prophet whose words have been recorded for all posterity so that all generations can know the One True God and walk in obedience to His commands. Now it is our responsibility to know God’s word, read His ways, and study its application with His people so that we all please God by the conduct of our lives. Believing that there is a God means believing that we will one day be held accountable for how we lived before that God. If God is loving and fair, then God will tell us how we are to live so that we know the standard by which He will judge us. Indeed, this is what He has done through the Scriptures so that we are without excuse for knowing God or doing His will. The voices of men who refute God’s word are all around us, in the media, in the classroom, in the offices of government and industry, they reject what God has said, they insist we do the opposite of God’s will, but we must choose this day whom we will serve; the One True God Who has revealed Himself through His word or men who deny God and so encourage living godless lives.
