Spirit-Filled or Self-Deceived?

John 15:26-27 (NIV) “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.”

Men, Are We Truly Spirit-Filled?

Most of us would quickly say yes. We know the gospel: repent, believe in Jesus’ death and resurrection, receive forgiveness, and the Holy Spirit—God Himself—comes to live within us. That is the promise.

But here’s the question: does our life actually show the presence and power of the Spirit?

The Spirit’s Work

The Holy Spirit is not a silent roommate.

  • Assurance: He confirms we belong to Christ and have eternal life.

  • Transformation: He shapes us into the image of Jesus—His character and mission increasing in us daily.

  • Witness: Through our words and actions He testifies that Jesus is alive, convicting the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

The Spirit never idles while we stay comfortable in sin or lukewarm in mission.

Signs of Being Spirit-Filled

  1. Obedience. A Spirit-filled man resists sin and pursues holiness.

  2. Bold Witness. He speaks of Jesus in everyday conversations, unashamed.

  3. Disciple-Making. He invests in others so Christ is known everywhere.

If these marks are absent, we must ask: Are we truly Spirit-filled?

Brothers, purpose, provision, and priorities all flow from the Spirit’s leadership.

  • Repent of any sin or complacency that grieves Him.

  • Submit daily to His Word and His prompting.

  • Testify—at work, at home, online—that Jesus is Lord.

If the Holy Spirit is not actively transforming and sending us, we may have religion without relationship.

Let’s be men who don’t just claim to have the Spirit but live Spirit-filled—proving our faith through obedience and bold witness.
