Acts 14:15-17, 22 NIV “Friends, why are you doing this? We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them. In the past, he let all nations go their own way. Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.” strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.” https://bible.com/bible/111/act.14.15-22.NIV
There is only One God and one way to please that God, which is by faith in Jesus for salvation alone, proven by allegiance to Jesus through obedience to everything He has commanded. God has been working with humanity since creation to keep us in a relationship with Himself. This work culminated in Jesus coming to earth as God Himself to sacrifice Himself for the purchase of humanity, which has all rebelled against Him, even though He has continued to show humanity patience, love, and kindness. God created a people for Himself through whom He would reveal Himself by their obedience to His ways. They did not obey God but also rebelled against Him. After God came in Jesus and rose from the dead, having successfully paid the penalty for human rebellion, He now gives His Holy Spirit, His very presence, to His people to transform them into His image. As Jesus lived a holy life of suffering, the people of God are to live holy lives, dead to self but alive to God, sacrificing themselves in time, treasure, and even life for the work of restoring all people to God through Jesus the Savior. God’s first people were given land and required to give back a tithe from that land to God. God’s new people are given His Spirit and required to give everything to God for seeing His kingdom come, and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. God’s first people were stewards of a piece of this earth. God’s new people are commanded to go into all the earth as stewards of the message of God’s love and work done in Jesus the Savior to give this message to everyone. Suffering and persecution will result in the lives of the faithful who proclaim the One True God and the one true way for reconciliation with that God, but so too did God suffer when He was with us as one of us when He died on the cross for all of us. As He was raised from the dead, so too shall all those who have given everything for His purposes be raised from the dead to live forever with God on a new earth, receiving their eternal reward of life abundantly.
