“And then He said to them, “You foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!” Luke 24:25 NASB2020. https://bible.com/bible/2692/luk.24.25.NASB2020
We really dishonor God and do ourselves an immense disservice, ignoring the Scriptures. God has given us this recorded message of His to us for knowing Him and doing His will. God Himself, in Jesus the Savior, constantly referred to the Scriptures as the means by which all men would and could know Him and what He was doing on earth for He had prerecorded His intentions to us through men He spoke through in previous generations. The power of the Scriptures is the means for men becoming children of God as they are spoken by the people of God. God Himself, in the Holy Spirit, makes His words come alive in the hearts and minds of those who hear them spoken to them by those who currently obey Him. We need no other words to convince men that God is and that He is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him besides the Scriptures. The Scriptures, empowered by the Spirit, are even more powerful for convincing men of God than someone who has died and then reappears to his family from the dead. The people of God are to work at knowing the word of God so that they can obey it and share it with others. God has given us certain men in the church for further helping us understand His word, but it is the duty, the responsibility, of every Christian to become a lifelong student of God through the constant reading, studying, memorizing, and meditating upon the Scriptures for applying and sharing with all people everywhere.
