Jesus, God as man, said these words to learned men, men who did believe in God but who lacked faith in God, didn’t believe everything in Scripture, and who consistently failed to obey God, thinking their way of living was superior to the way God prescribed for men to live. This is how many live today, whether they identify as Christians or not. The Scripture is largely ignored and mostly unbelieved. The university and the media have replaced the Bible as the source of truth. The Bible calls those who deny Him fools and promises those who believe God’s ways will be wiser than their teachers. The Christian should despise the teaching of the university and the media when it contradicts the Scripture. The Christian should obey God in showing himself a workman, a diligent perpetual student who accurately understands and obeys the Scripture so that God might approve, welcome, and reward him. Instead, too many believe men following in the thinking and behaving of unsaved men whose end is destruction and whose future is condemnation. Why do we want to be like those who oppose God? The kingdom of God is for those who love God first and place the greatest priority upon knowing Him to serve Him faithfully and fruitfully all their lives until they meet the Rewarder of their faith, Jesus the Lord.
