Psalm 40:8–10 (NIV) “I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart. I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, Lord, as you know. I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.”
Every real man is driven by purpose.
The problem? Most of us spend our best years chasing the wrong one.
These words from Psalm 40 aren’t just David’s—they’re Jesus’ own. He lived them perfectly, never holding back truth, never hiding His identity, never shrinking from His Father’s will. And here’s the staggering reality: these same words are meant to define us.
If you call yourself a Christian man, your purpose isn’t just to believe in Jesus—it’s to live like Him.
Obedience Over Ambition
Jesus had every right to demand a throne, but instead He picked up a towel. He came not in royal processions but in servant humility—doing His Father’s will, step by step, even to the cross.
We are called to that same obedience.
Not the convenient kind.
Not the safe kind.
The costly kind—where our schedules, reputations, and even livelihoods bow to the will of God.
Too many Christian men hide their faith to protect their careers or avoid awkward conversations. But silence is not obedience. We are not called to camouflage Christianity for corporate approval—we are called to proclaim Christ in the assembly, in the workplace, and at the dinner table.
Serving is Strategy
Obedience to God is inseparable from serving people. Serving isn’t weakness—it’s the ultimate strategy for reaching hearts. It earns trust, builds credibility, and opens doors for the gospel in ways mere words never can.
When you live to serve, you declare with your life that you belong to a higher King and a greater mission.
Your Time, Your Treasure, Your Testimony
A true man of God:
-
Spends time with God before spending time on anything else.
-
Uses his resources for eternal investments, not just earthly comforts.
-
Opens his mouth to speak truth even when it costs him.
The reward is not a bigger paycheck or a better title—it’s eternal life and blessing from the Father who sees in secret and rewards in glory.
Your Next Step
If you’ve been hiding your faith, playing it safe, or serving yourself more than others—it’s time to realign. Identify yourself with Christ in the public square and in private prayer. Let your obedience be the one thing that defines you.
