“Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. He also said to them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day, and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.” After worshiping him, they returned to Jerusalem with great joy.” Luke 24:45-49, 52 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/luk.24.45-52.CSB
The doing of the Christian life is simple and easy but requires our focused priority on loving God most and doing His will first. Our greatest love and desire receive our greatest attention in time and expense. The One True God requires that He is loved with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength and that we love our neighbor as ourselves. What else would He require but to be loved the most, demonstrated by our love for one another always. So what are these simple things the Christian is to engage in to demonstrate His first love and loyalty to His God in Jesus, his Savior? They are the word, the witness, and the worship. We are to know our God through His provision of Scripture to us. It was important to Jesus to fill the minds of His disciples with an understanding of Him through the Scriptures, and then He commanded them to teach those Scriptures to all of the disciples. Time with God is time in His word, learning His ways so we can do them. The primary activity is to witness to others what God has done for us in Jesus the Savior. The testimony of our witness is Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection and how we have come to believe in Him as our Savior. This belief has caused us to repent before God to be reconciled to God. Having been freed from the condemnation of our sin, we rejoice with all those who have likewise made Jesus their Savior and worship Him as Lord of our lives. We are to meet regularly with the people of God to encourage one another in the word and witness to God while rejoicing in the work of God so generously accomplished for us. The word, the witness, and the worship are the defining works of the person who truly loves God first and most.
