“O Lord, you are great, mighty, majestic, magnificent, glorious, and sovereign over all the sky and earth! You have dominion and exalt yourself as the ruler of all. You are the source of wealth and honor; you rule over all. You possess strength and might to magnify and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your majestic name!” 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 NET https://bible.com/bible/107/1ch.29.11-13.NET
David made these statements in the spirit of thanksgiving, worship, and praise. Do we ever feel this way about God ourselves? Do we ever feel so much joy in His presence that we rejoice in Him with the best words we can find, even though we find them inadequate to truly express all we feel about God? If God is out there somewhere but not in our hearts, deeply affecting our lives, we should be concerned and work to cultivate a different relationship with God. How can we develop the kind of love relationship with God David experienced? Through constant reading of God’s word, we know and enjoy Him. It is the Word of God that reveals the person of God; in coming to know Him better, we will love Him more. This love for Him will inherently develop praise and worship of Him. We will praise Him more in prayer, song, and thought. Our expression of joy to God because of our God will greatly increase as we spend time with our God in His word. The daily discipline of Bible reading leads to a lifetime of joy, fruit, and worship of God and in God. Like our spouse or best friend, time with them increases our love for them. We spend time with God by picking up the Bible regularly and reading its life-transforming words that reveal to us the greatness of our God and how wonderful it is that we can call upon Him as Father forever.
