The Work That Requires Faith: What God Really Wants from Men Today

1 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith.”‭‭

God is calling men to stop wasting time chasing debates, endless controversies, and empty distractions — and instead start advancing His work.

But what is God’s work? And why does it require faith?

  • Is it faith to go — to step into the mission you know God’s called you to?

  • Is it faith to trust God for provision—believing He’ll supply what you need?

  • Is it faith for the results—believing your obedience will bear fruit for the kingdom?

Yes. Yes. And yes.

But at the core, the work that requires faith is this: the work of the gospel. It’s believing the truth about Jesus — that He is, that He came, that He died for our sins, and that He will return again to reign, judge, and redeem.

God’s work is the proclamation of this truth and the transformation of people who choose to follow Him.

“Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
—Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

Faith isn’t merely belief — it’s movement. It’s stepping when you don’t see. It’s sacrificing when it’s uncomfortable. It’s trusting when the outcome is uncertain.

Where is God calling you to take a step of faith today?

You may not be flying across the world — it might be walking across the street, leading your family in prayer, stepping up at church, or sharing your testimony. God’s work isn’t advanced by arguing, but by acting in faith.

Run Today’s Play:

  • Name one thing you know God wants you to do — then do it by faith.

  • Pray: “Lord, strengthen my faith to go where You call, believe You will provide, and trust that You will bring the fruit. Amen.”

Don’t sit out the mission. Your faith is the spark He uses to ignite transformation — in you and in those He’s sending you to serve.
