We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work.” John 9:4 LSB https://bible.com/bible/3345/jhn.9.4.LSB
The Lord God Almighty Who made humanity in His image invites His image bearers into His work. More than an invitation, a command, that His people who call upon His Name for salvation and recognize Him before the world as God, join Him in the reconciliation of all humanity to Jesus as Savior and Lord. We must work, says our God, who assigned humanity to work in His world as stewards from the beginning. We are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works that God prepared us to accomplish before the world was formed. These works we are to do are for His glory. They build His kingdom and bear eternal fruit so that God can generously reward His faithful workers for all eternity in His kingdom. But we must work. The work of God is for all people in all nations to hear, believe, and obey the gospel of Jesus Christ until all of us who are children of God live like the Son of God Who loved us and gave His life for us to reconcile a people to Himself with whom He will live forever as their God, their Lord, their brother, and their Father. To give our lives to any other purpose than the glory of God on earth by making disciples on the earth is to give ourselves to things that perish and miss the joy of working with God now so that we can enjoy the fruit of our work with God forever.
