We Will Be Measured By The Quality Of Our Workmanship

“Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/2ti.2.15.CSB

Why would a worker be ashamed? They either did not show up for work, or their work was poor. The poor worker was hired, perhaps even paid in advance, to accomplish a task, to fulfill an expectation for the buyer. The ashamed worker somehow did not perform as expected. Jesus Christ paid for all of His people with His blood. We are no longer our own but belong to Him. Jesus is our Lord and our Savior. We have died to ourselves so that we no longer live for selfish ends but live to Christ to please Christ, bearing eternal fruit that glorifies Christ. Imagine living decades as a Christian and then arriving in heaven with no fruit to show to Christ in gratefulness and obedience to the salvation He purchased for us by His blood. What are the works of Christ? Jesus said the work of God is to know Him and the One Who sent Him (John 6). This work is accomplished by God’s people going into their world and making disciples by teaching everyone everything they know about obeying Jesus even as they live obedient lives to Jesus. These obedient lives are the lives of a workman focused on the task, giving his best effort to accomplish that task. The will of God is for His kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Who works for this cause, bearing fruit and proving they are His disciples?
