When We Do God’s Will We Fulfill Our Purpose

“And he said, ‘The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will and to see the Righteous One and to hear a message from His mouth. For you will be a witness for Him to all people of what you have seen and heard.” Acts 22:14-15 NASB2020 https://bible.com/bible/2692/act.22.14-15.NASB2020

Paul’s calling is the one i have wanted without the persecutions. But Paul was more committed than I. Paul was given the privilege of knowing God’s will in greater specificity than most or even all of us. Part of this purpose was to fulfill his role as one of the human authors of the Bible. God is the divine author, in the mystery of God, through men, God spoke specifically, clearly and without error. Yet God did all this through men, using their personality, knowledge, and abilities. But Paul also knew the will of God so he could live the will of God before men and execute the purpose for which he had been chosen by God. I want this too. I want to fulfill the purpose for my life for wont i in part be measured by my execution of this purpose? Certainly, the execution of the general purpose of God is the remainder of Paul’s call: to see the righteous One to hear from Him for sharing with others the knowledge of Him. This is what i long for most. I want to know Jesus better, see Him, hear specifically from Him. The word of God by the Spirit of God is the means of God for accomplishing this purpose helped by the church of God that contains men of God gifted by God for this purpose. Yet there is an aspect for most of us probably where in the privacy of our lives we desire greater personal intimacy with the Almighty. This comes by prayer, the Spirit and the Word. Those who know God best spend the most time with God alone. I need to make God a greater priority evidenced by my time with Him alone. Finally, the purpose for all this is to share Him with others. Men are not born knowing God. It is the people of God who know Him that are responsible for making Him known. This is our general purpose given specifically to us for telling the specific people in our lives who God is in Jesus the Savior. If we would be like Paul we must be obedient to this purpose and in obeying this purpose we shall experience more of God in our lives.
