John 7:7 “The world can’t hate you, but it does hate me, because I keep telling it how wicked its ways are.”
Why does the world hate Jesus?
Most people don’t think of Jesus as offensive. He is often described as loving, kind, and compassionate—and rightly so. God is light and life, full of love, joy, peace, and righteousness through the Holy Spirit.
Yet Jesus Himself says the world hates Him.
Why?
Because He exposes it.
Jesus does not merely comfort—He confronts. He reveals that what men naturally love is often opposed to God. The world hates Jesus because He tells the truth about what is wrong in us and around us.
The conflict becomes clear when we compare what men naturally pursue with what Jesus teaches.
The world esteems power and prestige.
Jesus calls men to humble themselves and serve others, declaring that the greatest is the servant of all.
The world pursues wealth and security.
Jesus teaches that we cannot serve both God and money, and calls us to invest in eternal treasure rather than what will perish.
The world values status and recognition.
Jesus calls men to be willing to be last, not first.
The world demands revenge and immediate justice.
Jesus commands us to forgive, bless those who curse us, and trust God with justice.
These are not small differences. They are two completely different ways of living.
Jesus makes clear that the issue is not merely behavior—it is allegiance.
Every man is shaped by three opposing forces:
-
the flesh (our sinful desires)
-
the world (a system that rejects God)
-
the devil (who actively opposes God’s truth)
These forces pull men away from God’s good and perfect ways.
That is why following Jesus is not casual. It requires intentional obedience and a willingness to go against the current of culture.
Jesus presents only two paths:
-
Love God → live like Jesus → eternal life
-
Love the world → live like the world → eternal destruction
There is no middle ground.
A man cannot love God and love the world at the same time. One will always take priority over the other.
Those who truly love Jesus begin to live like Him—humble, generous, forgiving, obedient.
Those who love the world continue to live for themselves—seeking comfort, control, recognition, and security apart from God.
Men often define their lives by:
-
what they achieve
-
what they earn
-
what others think of them
But Jesus redefines success.
True purpose is knowing God and obeying Him.
True provision is trusting God, not money.
True priority is eternal reward, not temporary gain.
When a man aligns his life with Jesus, everything changes.
Run Today’s Play:
First, examine your allegiance.
Are your decisions shaped more by the world or by the words of Jesus?
Second, choose obedience in one specific area today.
Serve someone instead of seeking recognition.
Give instead of accumulating.
Forgive instead of retaliating.
Third, fix your eyes on eternity.
The world is passing away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.
The world may reject Jesus.
But the man who follows Him will find life, purpose, and eternal reward.
At know God coach, we are committed to helping men know God better so they can love and obey Him more.
