“For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He did not commit sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth; when he was insulted, he did not insult in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.” 1 Peter 2:21-23 CSB https://bible.com/bible/1713/1pe.2.23.CSB
Jesus, God Himself as Man, is our example of how to live in this world. His example is one of constantly suffering injustice from those who maligned and mocked Him. Jesus suffered by not using His power to punish people or create fear of Him in their hearts. The power of God in Jesus the Savior was for healing and helping all those who came to Him with their needs. This is our example. We are to suffer injustice from those who mock us and despise us for walking in obedience to Jesus’ commands and not participating in the world’s values. We are to endure mistreatment from those hardened to God when we share the one way God has provided for humanity to be reconciled to God, Jesus the Savior. People are offended when their thinking is corrected. Only one way exists to heaven. There is a way people are to live, and it is not however they wish, believing they are free to do anything they want to. God will judge every word, thought, and deed, sending to hell all those but only those who reject Him as Savior and Lord over all. The children of God are to live like Jesus by proclaiming God’s ways while enduring men’s hostility in the process until He returns to bring justice upon the earth.
