Christian Identity Reminders: Living Holy and Visible for God

(Num) 15:37-41 CJB “Adonai said to Moshe, “Speak to the people of Isra’el, instructing them to make, through all their generations, tzitziyot on the corners of their garments, and to put with the tzitzit on each corner a blue thread. It is to be a tzitzit for you to look at and thereby remember all of Adonai’s mitzvot and obey them, so that you won’t go around wherever your own heart and eyes lead you to prostitute yourselves; but it will help you remember and obey all my mitzvot and be holy for your God. I am Adonai your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt in order to be your God. I am Adonai your God.”

God commands Israel to wear visible reminders on their garments—so they would remember His commands and obey Him.

This wasn’t about fashion. It was about formation.

God knew something we often forget: without intentional reminders, our hearts drift.

Why Christian Identity Reminders Matter

“…so that you won’t go around wherever your own heart and eyes lead you…” (Num 15:39, CJB)

Left alone, our hearts don’t drift toward God—they drift away. That’s why God gave His people visible, daily reminders to anchor them in obedience.

These reminders served two purposes:

  • Internal: To remind them who they belong to
  • External: To show others whose they are

Obedience is not just personal—it is identifying.

It is our obedience to God that identifies us as His children.

Visible Faith: A Bold Christian Identity Reminder

The tzitzit made faith visible. Today, we’ve minimized that.

Yes, some wear WWJD bracelets—but for many, even that feels like too much. Yet Scripture points us in the opposite direction:

Faith is meant to be seen.

When we live visibly for Jesus:

  • Other believers are encouraged into fellowship
  • The lost are confronted with truth
  • Our own hearts are reminded to obey

But let’s be honest—visibility creates tension.

The Cost of Christian Identity Reminders

Jesus never hid this reality.

When you visibly identify with Him:

  • Some will respect you
  • Some will seek you out
  • Others will oppose you

Just like Israel standing apart among the nations, a man living in obedience to Jesus will stand out.

And standing out often leads to suffering.

But Scripture is clear:
Great is your reward when you suffer for being God’s child.

So the question is not if you will be noticed…
It’s what you will be noticed for.

Christian Identity Reminders in Everyday Life

This is where it gets practical for men.

Christian identity reminders are not just jewelry—they are lifestyle markers.

  • Your speech reflects Christ
  • Your business practices reflect Christ
  • Your integrity reflects Christ
  • Your priorities reflect Christ

Imagine this:

  • Your business is known for honesty and excellence
  • Your leadership reflects humility and truth
  • Your life consistently points to Jesus

Now both:

  • Believers trust you
  • Unbelievers are challenged by you

That’s exactly what God intended.

Not decoration… proclamation.

From Reminder to Representation

God didn’t give Israel tzitzit so they could feel spiritual.

He gave them so they would:

  • Remember His commands
  • Obey His commands
  • Reflect His character

The same is true for us.

Our goal is not just to wear something that says “Jesus”…
Our goal is to live something that shows Jesus.

Because ultimately:

The world experiences God through the lives of His people.

And the clearest picture of that life is found in Jesus Christ—God with us, living in perfect obedience.

Run Today’s Play:

What visible reminder will you put in place today to strengthen your obedience and your witness?

  • Wear something that points to Jesus
  • Speak openly about your faith
  • Run your business with unmistakable integrity
  • Make decisions that clearly reflect God’s Word

But don’t stop at the reminder—

Live the reality it represents.

Because Christian identity reminders are not about looking holy…

They are about living holy so the world can see God.
