Repentance Means Living Like Jesus

““Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now commanding men that everyone everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He determined, having furnished proof to all by raising Him from the dead.”” Acts 17:30-31 LSB https://bible.com/bible/3345/act.17.30-31.LSB

God will hold me accountable. I am not ignorant of His ways. What should i do? Repent, which means confess my sin and turn from sinning! The sin that ‘just happens’ the quickness to anger, the impatience, will never cease though it can diminish i suppose. This sin comes from fleshly nature and responds to life like my body responds to pain when it occurs. The sin of choice, lust, greed, bitterness, unforgiveness, this sin must go away. This sin must not continue. From this sin i must repent, i must turn the other way and live as Jesus lived in forgiveness, love, peace with men. I have good reasons for some of my sin, the right response to the sin of others. Yet that response does not end in forgiveness but in broken relationships, not the response God wants which means my justifiable response is still wrong. I must repent. How then should i live with those who wrong me? I must love them, forgive them, and seek peace with them. This doesn’t mean allowing them further abuse or whatever wrong they are doing, but it does mean doing whatever i can to positively influence the relationship for reconciliation and righteousness. Living this way gives proof that Jesus is alive, alive from the dead and alive in me.
